Oh so Wally can explain to us what a cerebral cortex and neurons are. Have at it Wally. Prove you’re smarter than a cat.

Given the expression on Wally’s face in the fourth panel, he doesn’t even know himself what a cerebral cortex and neurons are. If you ask me (which I’m going to tell you anyway), the duck is smarter!

A duck is smarter than a cat or dog? Don’t make me laugh! Oh, wait. This is supposed to make me laugh. Ok, hahahahaha.

Cat lovers may scoff, but dogs do service work, police work, military work and are handy during rescues. Also I have seen dogs drive (with a little help.) Cats can do some of these with a lot of time and effort. Cats aren’t interested in working with humans. Are cats smarter? I think they are different.

There is one thing that dogs can do that NO other animal can do (not even monkeys, etc) and that is follow a human’s point. That is neurologically significant. A dog can follow a human pointing to food or anything, really – wolves can’t. Birds can’t. Cats can’t. Monkeys and Gorillas can’t. As far as the animal kingdom goes – that is one thing that sets them apart. And it is a biggie.

If dogs were so smart they would be able to figure out a litter box.
