“What a terrible disappointment to see [the CMA Foundation’s] mission clouded by the decision to align with someone who so frequently engages in the language of racism, sexism, and bigotry,” Pastorek wrote, as reported by the Tennessean.
Wow! Tennessee has some great people there who are willing to stand up against racists, bigots and gun toting nutjobs like Huckabee. Way to go good folks. Looks like the Blue Tidal Wave is building in strength to face the evil on the far right.
The folks in the CMA just want to make music. They don’t want all the baggage that Huckabee drags around. They don’t want a guy like him any more than they’d want Bill Clinton. He’s a distraction. Don’t blame the CMA that Huckabee has turned himself into a freak show, trying to keep up with all the other conservative sweetie pies. Like Roy Moore and Alex Jones.
Many years ago there was a phrase that went: “He’s a dead dog Democrat”. Meaning he would vote for a dead dog if were on the ballot as a Democrat. I look at the Republican party that way now.
The persecution complex that Christian zealots (not including normal Christians) have is amazing. When they are stopped from discriminating, they are being persecuted. When people object to their discriminatory views and don’t want them on the CMA board, they are being persecuted. If someone says “Happy Holidays” instead of “merry Christmas” because they want to be inclusive to all, the Christian zealots claim they are being persecuted.
Country music fans like being shot at as much as teenagers do. They like liars and pedophiles as much as the union members do. They like giving tax cuts to the rich as much as rock and roll fans do. Republican “Christians” are in bed with a lying sinner – and everyone sees it but about 30% of the country – and most of them are using the ones who CAN’T see it.

Intolerance is having “christian” values stuffed down your throat all your life. The bible thumpers are the most intolerant people there are.

So the right wing Republicans are so far to the extreme that they think right wing country music is liberal? You people have gone off the deep end.

Bigotry is not a Christian value. One has to be inclusive to be included.

Sorry, Ramirez, it’s “God’s, Guns, and Church”.
lonecat about 6 years ago
In Ramirez’s world, there is only one kind of Christian—and Huckabee is the perfect Christian—because he’s a homophobic bigot.

Conservatives attacking country music? My, my.

There’s nothing wrong with Christians (I think I’ve actually met a few ) It’s the christianists that pose the problem.

The philosopher Karl Popper writes that it is quite acceptable for tolerant people to be intolerant of the intolerant.
