I get sick when I hear 2nd Amendment nut jobs telling people that AR-15’s aren’t really assault weapons because the ‘A’ doesn’t stand for assault. Mass shootings on a regular basis and their main concern is definitions. Moral bankruptcy at its finest.
CHEV.JAMES, an investigation to see if guns can be purchased illegally online is a worthwhile effort. It is GOOD news that attempts to purchase guns illegally failed. Fox referring to it as “backfiring” demonstrates that they place much more importance on “GOP versus Dem” than facts.
Your false claim was that Democratic policies have contributed to the problem with guns, but when you were asked to provide ANYTHING to back this up by several commenters – crickets.
Most investigative reporters are much better at things like this – they do research beforehand and don’t reply on stereotypes or overdone language like Lester has in this cartoon. He must be thinking of O’Keefe in the pimp costume.
This is getting way too nasty on both sides! It does no good for resolving the problem. There is no way that reasonable people on either side want to see any more tragic, mass shooting of innocent people. Let’s get together as concerned Americans and try to solve this!
To chev.james & parrotthead09, can you answer this question I posted a couple of days ago?
“To all of those who insist that an AR-15 IS NOT an “assault rifle”
OTHER THAN THE FULL-AUTOMATIC CAPABILITY, what is the functional difference between an M16 and a civilian AR-15?
They both fire ammunition with approximately the same muzzle velocity (slightly in excess of 3,000 fps), and, with the same length barrels (and the same accuracy). With similar muzzle velocity and similar weight (and similar size bullets), impact force AND wounds are also similar.
They both do the same thing and cause the same harm, why shouldn’t they be called the same thing?"
The “war” on guns is as pointless and unwinnable as the war on drugs. If you make muzzle velocity greater than 3,000 fps illegal, then manufacturers will tune down muzzle velocity to 2,900 fps. Bullets over 120 grain illegal, we’ll make ‘em 110 grain. Can’t have a magazine that holds 30 or more bullets, then they’ll market magazines for 25 bullets. Laws cannot keep up, unless you ban guns entirely – which will require a Constitutional amendment, which just isn’t happening. Rather than trying to ban guns, it would be more productive to try to understand what has happened in the last 40 years that has led to the increased use of guns to commit mass murder.
^ Well, we could check with all the psychologists and social scientists that figured that out decades ago but that would take a bit of education so screw it.
SNARKY, there isn’t a “war on guns” so your comparison to “war on drugs” doesn’t fit. If the manufacturers try to method you’re describing, then the laws can be tweaked to fit their contortions and they will find that it is not cost-productive. Mass shootings went down when the Assault Weapon ban was in affect and rose again after it expired. Plus, the fear-mongering from the Republicans (and NRA-owned Dems) and the NRA about “they’re coming to take your guns” hasn’t helped. Seems you’ve joined that crowd since you’re using “war on guns”.

I like the phrase “fully semi-automatic”. That has to have been made up by a marketer (which is something different from a marksman).

Chev, why don’t you go have a cuddle with your sweethearts. Give ‘em a kiss and wipe the oil off your lips. I’m gonna go puke now….

Is this Mr. Lester’s attempt to trivialize the tragedies of mass shootings in this country? Could this stem from watching too much Fox News?

Finally a company that matters has cut ties with the NRA. No, wait, the store wasn’t identified.

FYI: The gun descriptions in-quotes are all real. Didn’t make any of them up, just kept a list of “journalist” inanities.

The reporter is being shown where he can buy the gun without a background check.
