When I was a kid I used to stash dollar bills behind picture frames to hide them from my sister. Now, I have an “emergency 20” stashed— it’s hidden from casual use, but the emergency can be anything from “need money for the pizza guy” to “don’t want to run to the ATM.” Same as I keep five singles in my car visor— toll money, coffee money, fill-the-boot money.

Philadelphia mint mark (?), back when they did that (probably back when they still had CC mint mark for Carson City)… now it’s just blank.

I would bet that cost a pretty penny.

Canada has the right idea. Pennies aren’t worth a nickel.

Allegedly there was a company selling an “engraved copper portrait of President Lincoln” for only $5 and then you received a penny.

Before stashing your “lucky penny,” for what did you use that wall safe, Monty? Your five-dollar bills?
