    LaPierre delivered a Christian nationalist call to arms that should be chilling to us all.

    To great applause, LaPierre declared, “The brilliance of America is that all of our freedoms are for every single citizen…[these freedoms are] not bestowed by man, but granted by God to all Americans as our American birthright.”

    In striking contrast, though, the Declaration of Independence states says, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights…”Thomas Jefferson’s language in the declaration flows directly from European Enlightenment thinking, most specifically John Locke’s theory of natural rights, which asserted the inherent (“God-given”) dignity and value of all human beings.

    Several questions should be asked of the domestic terrorist group known as the American Rifle Association.

    1. Why do you accept “dark money” contributions where the donors CANNOT be traced?

    2. How were you able to more than double your campaign contributions to the 2016 political campaign process over previous campaigns?

    3. Does it not bother you that numbering among your members are several high-ranking members of the Russian government?

    I would point out that, while America is investigating several facits of the Russian’s attempts to subvert our election process we are by no means investigating ALL of the myriad ways Putin’s regime is suborning EVERY part of our governmental process! It is a multi-pronged attack and exposing only one part of it WON’T stop the attack! We absolutely need information on exactly HOW the N.R.A. managed to scrape together all that extra money for the campaign! The need to ‘expose’ all the ‘secret donor’ to the N.R.A. supersedes their need to keep their contributors confidential – they have a very direct effect on our elective process and, therefore, the need for ‘disclosure’ supersedes their need for keeping their donors and the vast amounts of money foreign powers could be pumping into our elections through them, secret!

    Any organization that contributes to our politicians needs to FULLY DISCLOSE their donors. We really need to know who’s ACTUALLY buying our politicians, people! We already KNOW the domestic terrorist organization calling itself the N.R.A. is buying them – we need to know who’s buying the N.R.A.!
