Gramma Evie: Face it, Val. This boy Holly likes is a GOOD influence on her. She's getting better grades to IMPRESS HIM! Gramma Evie: Remember when girls pretended to be DUMB because boys didn't LIKE smart girls?? Gramma Evie: Your daughter is doing the OPPOSITE. Don't you see how GREAT that is?! Val: Holy Hepburn, she's a feminist. Gramma Evie: Careful, you'll scare her.

Strange…I always liked smart girls. In fact, airheads were a HUGE turnoff…

Ditto. “The largest erogenous zone is between the ears,” as Raquel Welch said.

The Accidental Feminist

I could never have a serious relationship with someone who wasn’t at least my equal intellectually - and I’m reasonably bright! (and yes, I’m female)

Speaking for myself. I’m attracted to intelligent, empowered women.

I always told my mom knowledge is power. Her definition is totally opposite. She doesn’t have a HS graduate certificate either dropped out at 8th grade sadly. The way she talks about teachers back then no wonder. She is 85. She is one which saying doesn’t apply teach an old one new stuff. She cannot learn. And since when is Holly a feminist.

OldPossum: “I could never have a serious relationship with someone who wasn’t at least my equal intellectually - and I’m reasonably bright!”
The danger of that is that you’ll attract partners who want someone no more than their intellectual equal. Would you reject someone who was attracted to you (at least in part) because YOU were the brains of the outfit?
Nabuq: “Feminism, the philosophy that everyone else is to blame for everything, that there are no consequences to one’s actions, and that men have only a handful of uses…”
It’s clear that you have no understanding of Feminism. Do some research, and you’ll see how casually and pervasively women were treated as second-class citizens before, say, 1965. To the extent that things have improved in the last 45 years, that’s the result of Feminism. To the extent that there’s still “a long way, baby” to go, that’s why Feminists are still necessary.

..being a little older [61] i have actually read the dictionary and became a feminist at the tender age of 7 when i was being taught to study the bible starting with genesis when i figured out that they were blaming women for everything wrong in the world and that women were not to be considered fully human is when i knew i was not buying any of it and have not seen any reason to change my mind since, i still am a feminist….

There are feminists and there are feminists. Sad to say, there is a contingent out there that are patently male-bashers, and they make my teeth itch. Me, I’d be satisfied with a gender-neutral assessment of my qualifications and good manners for both sides.

good for you cathrine; it seems as though feminism has degenerated to man hating and blaming men for evils which they have nothing to do with. and yes i know we still live in a patriarchal society. that does not necesarily mean it is inherently evil.
