In my hometown of Sheboygan Wisconsin, when we cook meat outdoors over burnt charcoal we don’t call it barbecuing or grilling we call it a “brat fry”. These are often used by local civic organizations as fund raisers. You will see signs advertising them all over town. It must seem like an unusually public form of child abuse to uninformed folks from out of town.
