This kid knows nothing about wrapping presents. Try putting the ball in a box first.

Actually, she did a good job wrapping the ball – better than I would have done.

My mom put my dad’s present in a large cardboard box along with about 40 pounds of other stuff. He gave up trying to figure it out. Christmas morning when he opened the box, he found a small bowling ball in a smaller box. He was so hurt thinking he gave him a small plastic bowling ball. She later told him that the small plastic ball is what they give you when you buy a new ball. All he had to do is take the plastic one to the lanes and then they let you choose what ball you want and they will drill it for you.

Do I see a bit of irony here? To have a soccer ball on Super Bowl Sunday? There’s a kind of rivalry between American football fans and football fans. Everywhere else besides the U.S., soccer is called “football.” It makes sense to everybody else, as the ball is hit with the foot throughout the game, whereas in “handegg” an egg-shaped ball is kicked only once and thrown or carried the rest of the time. I think Fagan is doing a nose-thumbing at football fans.
