you can’t get caught leaving if you don’t go in the first place.

back in the day, I sat in the back of the geometry class and the windows to the outside were right behind me. There were a few times on the warmer days when the windows were open (no airconditioning) that I managed to slip out the window and enjoy some time outdoors. Then just before class was up I would come back into the school and into the classroom. The teacher (who really did not know what was happening around him very much) would say “where did you come from?” and I would respond " the restroom". He would tell me to take my seat, then he would finish up the class and I would leave with the other students. None of the other students ratted on me and I aced the class. Thanks for the memory Bill, appreciate it.

Strolling down Memory Lane with Flora and Fauna, I remember my geometry teacher, then in the early stages of what went on to be a long and distinguished teaching career. His forte was that he practiced a version of the Vulcan Nerve Pinch long before Mr. Spock came on the scene (it was a private school, and so long ago, that such practices were accepted). There was no escape from that third-floor classroom….

Reminds me of the time when I was in a private school, 11th grade, I had one more class to go in the afternoon, I had to go pick up my gal at a different school. I was walking down the hall, 2nd floor, one of the teachers spotted me and asked where I was going. I said I was going to pick up book for class. He knew there was no book – no class and came after me. I jumped from the second floor, S shaped stair case right between the rafters and ran out the door. Didn’t get caught, but my dad did have to come to school with me to get accepted back. That afternoon, the principal called a meeting of the blue team (odd classes) and white team (even classes) at certain rooms. He finished by stating that he didn’t want any paratroopers jumping out the window. Big laugh today, not then.

I’m reminded of Harpo Marx who had to drop out of school because a bully kept chucking him out the window.
