    Mr. Bok is demonstrating his ability to speak out against the protesters. Just like the Rump had indicated his ability to speak out against those who protested against racism.

    While they may have the RIGHT to take a knee to supposedly protest how others are being treated, disrespecting our flag in the process (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Flag_Code for details), is NOT an appropriate means to air their issues.

    “Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem

    When reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, all present should stand at attention facing the flag with their right hand over their heart, with the exception of those in uniform who shall salute. The National Defense Authorization Act of 2008 contained an amendment to allow un-uniformed service members, military retirees, and veterans to render a hand salute during the hoisting, lowering, or passing of the U.S. flag.

    A later amendment further authorized hand-salutes during the national anthem by veterans and out-of-uniform military personnel. This was included in the Defense Authorization Act of 2009, which President Bush signed on Oct. 14, 2008. Public Law 113-66, enacted on 26 December 2013, reaffirmed this authorization.

    And for my 2 cents: "If the players and managers continue to disrespect our flag, perhaps you should save your money for viewing any NFL game, attending any NFL game, or buying any overpriced NFL gear, and then sending that money to a worthy veterans charity…

    You’ll feel much better and perhaps then the NFL will get the message.

    https://www.vox.com/the-big-idea/2017/10/14/16473534/benching-nfl-players-taking-knee-illegal-labor-law

    Employers can’t punish employees for “concerted activity for mutual aid”

    The real issue in the anthem protest cases is whether the players’ actions constitute “concerted activity for mutual aid or protection,” which is what federal labor law protects. ….

    First, race discrimination — and certainly the acute kind that manifests as police violence — affects the targets of that discrimination across all spheres of their lives. Police violence directed at African-American men may happen away from the workplace, but that can’t mean that police violence has no impact on African-American men at work. Indeed, the idea that police violence, and other forms of race discrimination, can somehow be cabined away from work, just because that discrimination occurs away from work, is false. ….

    Second, the NFL and the agreement the league has with the players stresses repeatedly that being an NFL player involves more than what happens on the field. ….

    In other words, the job of being a football player involves much more of what in many other occupations might be classified as non-work or non-employment matters.

    Third, although all the protesters have solid protection from labor law for the reasons I’ve outlined, it would be even more blatantly illegal to bench anthem protesters in cases in which they are taking a knee as a means of showing support for teammates threatened with discipline for their actions….

    One final note. Even if anthem protests are protected by federal labor law, the players’ collective bargaining agreement could, in theory, waive their right to engage in them. …

    @whybother

    Many a Trumper has put forward as one of the reasons they voted for Trump to “P*** Off the Libs!”

    How does all that “winning” taste?

    The fans, taxpayers and owners thank you. And apologize that you have to continue to take a knee while so many try to blur what you are trying to do. There is no reason police should be shooting people down in the streets because of their skin color.
