For us we have bi-level and house has insulation. We have tried to run a fireplace built in house, we have sliding glass I call window husband states glass door, each time fireplace is going we have to open sliding glass or smoke drifts in house and fire alarm goes off does not warm house lit fireplace gets house smoky. We have new furnace and a/c installed last year. Our gas bill has been low so we keep comfy.

If there was only some way they could have known ahead of time that it would be cold and they would want a fire …
