Before this goes off the rails this is not about abridging free speech. It is the right of employers to demand certain behaviors from employees. In other words it is as much a right of Jerry Jones to institute employee mandates as it is ESPN -who suspended an anchor for social media standards infractions a second time. Both private businesses will suffer at the cash register which will ultimately deny a ten year old athlete today from making millions in the “NFL of the Future”.
It is so funny that people complain that athletes are over paid. All entertainers are probably over paid when compared to teachers, policemen and fire fighters etc. But that is a part of what living under capitalism brings you. Supply and demand etc. I notice the complainers never think about what it took those millionaires to achieve that pay scale. The incredibly long hours spent learning the craft that probably started when they were in middle school or younger. The hours spent working out and the pain endured to develop the skills needed to become one of the few elites to succeed at the highest professional level. There are thousands of athletes in our high schools, some of them go on to college and fewer still actually make it in the ranks of the professionals. The dedication it takes to become one of the millionaires in sports is admirable. Many of these athletes the right have chosen to despise had few options open to them to raise themselves and to make better lives for themselves and their families yet for some reason the haters are so jealous that these people have put in the hard work and dedication to become successful that they choose to ridicule and hate. If they had applied themselves as hard as the people they have chosen to despise they might have been millionaires themselves.
Lester is just showing what he thinks is important. Yes, he could have commented on the contrived Trump—Pence farce at the Colts game … but he chose not to.
NFL players are in uniform. They kneel DURING the National Anthem. The contention this “isn’t about the anthem” is ludicrous otherwise they wouldn’t kneel during the anthem. But back to uniforms -if a UPS driver showed up at your home and after delivering a package said to you “abortion is murder” would you call UPS? Damn right you would.
I hope the owners keep all that extra profit they are getting from tax dollars. If the president can cut the salaries of people he doesn’t agree with, who is safe?

Wow, who knew that one black man could so damage an organization like the NFL?
The NFL must be incredibly weak.

The solution is obvious, though.
Put the best negotiator in the history of mankind into the office of commissioner.

Kaepernick will go down as the one who ruined American football. It had nothing to do with the fact that the Rump threw fuel on the fire.

Say What – One player ruined the game? Simply put: That is an inane conclusion.

@MLESTER101 — Let us not forget that you get paid ( handsomely ) when " you grasp the obvious," impressively or not!

They need to go back to the rules in 2009, where the teams didn’t even take the field until after the National Anthem. Problem solved.
