Nowadays the last panel would have been her friend “Messy” leaning out of a house stacked with all kinds of stuff floor to ceiling yelling “Hoarder”…the irony!!!
Anyone remember that old, WWII era cartoon featuring old Mother Hubbard (or her equivalent) but her cupboard wasn’t bare. Her cupboard was stocked, and when her dog saw that he did that slow burn (“why you dirty, rotten, low-down…”) and then started yelling out the window that she was a food hoarder. Hard to imagine a time like that now, when half the population is obese and civic mindedness is considered tantamount to socialism in many people’s opinion.

I’m going to have to cite you, Nancy, for not having a stalk of celery and a baguette sticking out of one of the bags.
