Now that Republicans are in office, the debt is no longer a problem.

Not to worry. All of the tax cuts for the wealthy will pay for the damage caused by Harvey, Irma and Jose.

The national debt is only a ‘thing’ when politicians need it to be a ‘thing’.

Maybe if we voted for people that had an economic background and were more like the average citizen than the average multi-millionaire, we could provide the services that people need, efficiently and effectively instead of wasting taxpayer’s money on plans based on archaic political ideologies.

The U.S. had four consecutive balanced budgets under Clinton until Republicans took over in 2001. The GOP passed massive tax cuts that year and we have run annual deficits every year since. Now what are Republicans talking about? More tax cuts. We never learn.

This national debt has kept us from being a 3 rd world country.

If we were the only country, I’d be concerned. What does concern me is the two opposing parties do not vet their candidates to exclude those who do not understand the basic economic principles.

@ghost keeper I agree with you. The rich don’t pay what they did before Reagan was President. He started the cycle of giving the rich huge tax breaks with the idea that those breaks would increase a trickle-down economy which is a lot of BS.

Didn’t Texas and Florida vote for Trump who thinks that Climate Change is a “Chinese Hoax”? Doesn’t seem to be working out so well thus far for those states. Those Chinese are pretty clever.

The Cons want to damage the economy just enough to make their case that all the humanist benefits from the New Deal, Square Deal etc must be jettisoned from the budget. Once that is done they will be happy to see the surpluses going to them, their Military-Industrial-Espionage Complex that fills their coffers and keeps their power in out govt.

Those storms are just an indication of what climate change is going to cost us. Interesting that two states most convinced it’s a Chinese fraud are now depending on that federal government they wanted gone, to bail them out. They want a bigger bucket as well. Maybe Florida documents can go back to using the term “climate change”?
