Why not just use a digital thermometer like I do? Those have neither glass nor mercury.
We used to play with blobs of mercury when I was a kid. A nice side dish to the clouds of mosquito fog I used to run through when the truck came around.
Do PAs not get modern digital thermometers?
Just be happy he isn’t on his stomach, pants down and thermometer in the rectum. I recall that quite well.
