I don’t know why progressives don’t get the idea that inoffensive speech doesn’t need protection. We have a first amendment to protect offensive speech because otherwise those “in power” would be offended by anyone pointing out their numerous shortcomings.
Rock bands have the right to call themselves by disparaging names. The band wants to change the meaning of the word to something powerful, something considered beautiful or a point of pride instead.
