It happened to me. A girl I went to high school with died a few years later after childbirth. I tried to remember if I ever wished her dead and I couldn’t. I did feel bad for her children, the rest of her family and the friends we had in common.
Everyone is easier to like when they’re dead. But some people were just horrible and pretending and/or navel-gazing won’t change it.
Maybe, but there is a feeling of guilt attached to not being sorry someone is dead. It is a lot better, though, if you didn’t kill them.
