With my daughter at this age, this was the way things were every night, except not with dolls that could be a little hard. She had all her stuffed animals in bed with her and we sometimes wondered where she found room for herself to sleep.
I had done this on occasion. I also remember lining all of my rag dolls up on the bed and sleeping between them (with the covers TIGHTLY tucked in). Both of my daughters did this; my younger one, who is 12, still has her huge yellow stuffed dog that she got when she was 3 “sleeping” on top of her like an extra blanket every night.
This is another story from the heart. My son had bunk beds in his room and my daughter just had a single bed. It was much easier for him to host a friend for the night than it was for her. When I let Aaron have a boys only all-nighter, it seemed as if Katie was being left out of everything. Sometimes, it’s hard to make things even, especially when a kid wants equality NOW!

At least Liz’s “friends” are quieter than Michael’s.
