Bagels are carb bombs. Especially nowadays. I went to a class for diabetics and they showed typical portions of carbs, and the fake bagel they showed was about a quarter of the size of a “normal” bagel. Then I went home to North Jersey and stopped at a real bagel shop, and these suckers were literally the size of softballs. I couldn’t believe it. Let’s say they were real, but not authentic. Outside of the NY metro area, Bruegger’s is the chain with the best (IMO) bagels. Einstein Bros a distant second.

A bagel with honey or jelly is kinda good as well.

Gil a bagel is just as good as a donut if you make it right. Toast it, spread cream cheese and a bit of preserves on it, ummmm, yummy!
