The letter carrier, herself, told me that the real reason for the barking is that the dog’s job is to “guard” and that includes barking. Since the dog’s barking causes the carrier to leave, the dog’s behavior is rewarded so that’s why it continues. So anyway, she started carrying treats, and if she likes the dog, she gives that dog a treat, and that stops at least some dogs from barking…
