    Preventing the fire would change history. Altering it in ways you may not like. however if the scrolls from the Library of Alexandria were to turn up out of the blue the ripples would be reduced.

    If I remember history correctly, the Library was actually burned/attacked/destroyed and rebuilt multiple times before it’s final destruction. Even if he COULD prevent all those, it would still have likely been attacked numerous times. Warriors and conquerors usually have no respect for such treasure. Plus, age would take a toll on the scrolls if nothing else.

    It’s much easier to kype a few (thousand) scrolls than to stop in invasion and sacking.

    To sum up even if you managed to prevent that fire there would be later ones, might be just delaying the inevitable, so yes save them

    sneak in, take digital photos of them all then leave – you have all the info but you don’t affect history
