What does “a boiling point three times that of regular water” mean? It’s interesting, but I don’t see how you can multiply temperatures, if that’s what it means.

What would PETA ask The Yardbirds to change their name to? The Lawn Fowls?

Does that mean saliva boils at 300 degress (Centigrade)? What about under pressure – this could make good engine coolant. What about dog saliva? I’ve got a mutt that could provide enough “coolant” for the world.

Technically, to say that one temperature is “three times” another, you need to use absolute temperatures — kelvins or degrees Rankine. The boiling point of water is 373.15 K, so three times that is 1119.45 K (approx. 846 °C, 1555 °F, 2015 °R). I suspect the Ripley’s writer didn’t know that.

This is a proven myth. The boiling point of human saliva is 100.16 degrees Centigrade.
