The Koch Brothers drug of choice. It’s how they were able to afford to buy all the politicians and judges.

The GOP is hooked. They’d sell their own country for a sweet taste.

See the pictures of Canada of the “mining” of oil sands. Very disgusting.

Woot!!!! Jobs for Pipeline workers, Jobs for the Refinery workers, Jobs for the Support systems for those workers: Bankers, car dealerships, waitresses, mobile home producers, grocery stores, heavy construction equipment makers, etc. etc. etc.

And best of all – It’s safer to transport oil across the United States. Much safer than transporting it by rail.

    Win Win Win,

    President Trump Rocks!!!!!

@mephistopheles – so you’ve drunk the Trump kool-aid. you realize that there are jobs by investing in renewable energy sources, too. right? Also, you realize that fossil fuels are a finite resource and that they are become more and more expensive to extract. Yes?So, why spend money and resources on yesterday’s technology when we desperately need to invest in energy sources that will power our future.

@Bubbletape – The problem with those renewable jobs, to which you referred, is that they are opaque. Mr. Obama foolishly squandered our tax dollars on Green Companies that sucked up the money and then declared bankruptcy without producing jobs or products. The Pipeline is out in the open and you can see whether or not the money is being spent appropriately.

At a 30,000 foot level you are absolutley correct – Whether the stimulus money goes for pipelines or windmills – Stimulus money improves the economy. But I much prefer seeing the money go for “real” infrastructure projects where we can all see immediate benefits and the results of the money being spent. Plus, big projects like the oil pipelines are labor intensive meaning much of the money goes to working-class people rather than to a corporation that creates a solar-panel making machine.

That energy of the future you talk about is great if you want to sit in your house or apartment. Not so great if you need to drive to your place of work. You won’t be running your car on a solar panel any time soon.

My grandchildren will be breathing poisonous air, suffer from extreme temperatures and experience viscous storms just to line the pockets of a few oil and coal executives. And not tomention the loss of personal freedom. Thank You donald

Trump loves coal: It’s obsolete, toxic, scummy, and it hasn’t been popular since the 1800s.

In other words, it’s identical to his views towards women!

@LGILBERT50 – Just so I understand your position – Are you assuming ONLY executives benefit from the coal industry. Are you completly discounting the lives and livelihoods of the thousands of coal miners and their families. Not to mention the lives of the industries that built up around those mines?

It’s humanitarians like you who made sure the Democrats LOST GROUND in this past election. So just keep spewing your uninformed bile it will keep your party at the back of the bus for a long time to come :)

Things to keep in mind:1- With oil, gas and coal, the big companies (supporting politicians) keep making money because you keep needing more fuel.2- With renewable energy, once the apparatus is installed, the fuel is free.

    @Mephistopheles:

Total jobs: maybe 3600, for less than a year. No permanent jobs. This is confirmed by the pipeline builders.

Safety: A gigantic target for terrorists? I think not.

American energy independence: It’s not going to be our oil. It will come from Canada, be refined here, and go to China. We just take all the risks of transport and pollution.

There’s also the analogy that we’re like the alcoholic who tears his house apart in search for that one bottle he’s absolutely sure he hid in there somewhere.

China is leading the world in renewable energy with 40% of the world’s total. The U.S. has less than 10%.

1179 miles of crude oil piped over all kind of terrain and through several different ecosystems; what could possibly go wrong? (BTW the oil is just to be shipped to China)
