Arlo: I told you to eat your salsa aioli!
Guess I’m gonna need help on this one…
Garlic and olive oil would decrease her sense of smell, or overpower other smells, I guess.
He has GARLIC breath!
I’m thinking, by the way her eyes pop open in panel two…
That whenever she rolls toward him, she gets an olfactory confirmation that he ate his.
So he’s reminding her that he’d warned her… had she only eaten hers, too, they’d be more compatible….
Like saying, “why don’t you have onions on your burger, so I can have some on mine.”
Thank you Susan….You’re clever AND wise…..
Fight fire with fire, fight garlic with garlic.
By passing on the salsa aioli she blew a chance for a seminal moment with Arlo.
A wise spouse always eats a small “defensive” bite of garlic or onion. Garlic aioli! Sounds like a fancy restaurant indeed. Now yesterday’s strip makes more sense. The “garlic mayo” must have come with the appetizer! Re-read the two strips together.
So Susansunshine, do you have onions on yours?
Go nibble on a garlic clove and show your hubby you love him. Then you both can get some sleep.
It works both ways. On Mar. 6, 2003, Arlo rolls away from Janis with the comment: “Love isn’t… breathing the same air.”
