The Tea Party is funded by the super rich and serves to mostly benefit them. How much is enough for them?

“…funded by the super rich…”? Really? Where is the evidence for that? I get a little tired of reading these blanket accusations that have no basis, whether it is the ignorant liberal claiming the tea party is a tool of the rich or the ignorant conservative claiming Obama is out to destroy the country. Neither is true. the tea party is a grass-roots uprising of people tired of being over-taxed and Obama is just incompetent.

Just substitute the word “Democrats” for “Republicans” and this pretty much covers everyone (though you can obviously leave out the racist tea parties for Dems).

Ted, the background makes me think “Jeffy” from “Family Circus” but the way he’s drawn is making me think “Dennis the Meanace”. Was that intentional?

Does anyone remember when Fox News was sponsoring Tea Party rallies earlier on?

If there are not super rich hands guiding the direction of the Tea Party’s anger, why are they so angry about letting tax cuts on the top 2% of rich people expire?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Karl Rove’s acolytes or Rove himself is the one pulling the strings behind the Tea Party decorated curtain.

They are MY enemies because they want to force religion and phony patriotism on me while depriving me of the basic social services that grown-up societies take for granted.

But in follow-up interviews, Tea Party supporters said they did not want to cut Medicare or Social Security — the biggest domestic programs, suggesting instead a focus on “waste.”

Some defended being on Social Security while fighting big government by saying that since they had paid into the system, they deserved the benefits.

Others could not explain the contradiction.

“That’s a conundrum, isn’t it?” asked Jodine White, 62, of Rocklin, Calif. “I don’t know what to say. Maybe I don’t want smaller government. I guess I want smaller government and my Social Security.” She added, “I didn’t look at it from the perspective of losing things I need. Because Conservatives haven’t declared Liberals enemies because Liberals don’t support endless war spending we don’t pay for and constant Bible bashing and stripping/blocking minorities of their civil rights.

It’s hard to imagine those people who believe the nonsense that Ted Rall and some of the commentors above have stated is true (in terms of the hateful racist comments)… other than they clearly do not know a single person on the opposite side of the isle.

That or simply knowing an individual has an opposing viewpoint than your own stirs up so much emotional vitriol that you turn into a bull seeing red completely incabable of clear, objective thought.

I feel very bad for those stricken with such pitiable circumstances. If one’s character is not the most important thing in their lives then their politics is meaningless (whether Dem, Rep or Indie). When one ferociously lashes out at another because of a simple difference in worldview, it is the one lashing out that has the failed character.

In terms of financing. Well the Tea Party is not an official political party and thus is not part of any official study. However, there are far more rich and wealthy donors to the Democratic Party than to the Republican. Official studies have shown that for years now.

But what does that really mean or prove other than just having an objective fact? Does that mean that the rich, wealthy and business owners are fools? Does it mean that they are just trying to control the political elite? Does it mean they are trying to promote those with wise fiscal views that benefit said financier’s business? Can such a sweeping statement be made objectively even?

Finally, how come private businesses are the great evil; yet, the Unions are the ones that take people’s earnings (dues) and then fund a single political party (Dem) and then strong arm their members to vote and even stump for that same party (Dem).

Whether private business owners vote for and financially support the Democratic or Republican party, they are not taking their employee’s earnings to do so nor strong-arming them into doing so as well.

Respect for those few Unions which do not fall in to this horrible reality and shame on the few private business which may.

Simply having a different opinion doesn’t negate the fact that some opinions are right and some are wrong, some are intelligent and some are stupid, some are liberating and some are fascistic. And business owners are taking everybody’s earnings, not just some people’s. Why do you think most union members would vote Democratic in the absence of any outside pressure whatsoever?

I suggest that the so-called «Tea Party movement» is to be taken seriously. There is no doubt that it is being used by people like the Koch brothers to keep their taxes at a minimum and fight organised labour, and by some leading lights in the Republican Party to regain political power in Washington. But just as the Tea Party is being used, it - or rather, its leading figures - are using those who are bankrolling and supporting it to attain power on its own terms. Historical analogies are always misleading, but relations between the NSDAP and such figures as Franz von Papen are perhaps instructive here….
