Funny, but folks will knock themselves out to save a wolf or an owl’s way of life, but Native Americans’ not so much. Water is sacred to some of the tribes of out there, and no wonder. If you live in a desert it is life itself. pollute the water table, and it’s over.
You all like the end result of that dirty oil.. strip mining.. depleting the water table. STOP being hypocrites by defending those groups that want to stop progress. You.. can not have both.
Our reliance on petroleum has reduced us to something like the old alcoholic who tears his house apart looking for that bottle he’s absolutely sure he stashed somewhere. Gotta have that last bottle! #@*% it, where’s that @#%er gone?
This picture is worth far more than just 1000 words. Historically, what was done to Native Americans is shameful. The fact that it is still being done is even more shameful.
Heavily armed white men take over native land in Oregon and threaten to kill. All acquitted.
.
Peaceful native tribes protect land they own through an 1850 treaty. They are attacked and mass arrested by riot police with tanks, attack dogs, and sound cannons.
A pipeline that doesn’t leak is as common as an ostrich flying south with the geese for winter.Watching the reaction to the Native groups defending THEIR LAND is most depressing when seeing the Bundy traitors who damaged OUR LAND, and took up arms against OUR NATION, walk because the US Attorney picked a weird charge they couldn’t prove “conspiracy” on all the defendants being tried together, thus assuring an acquittal.
Where was the trespass charge? Where the illegal firearms charges used to assault (yes, the capability of making your threats real IS “assault”) officers of the law, the public, or the destruction of government property?
Which, the first reports on the pipeline protest started with PRIVATE SECURITY assaulting the protestors!
Hopefully, the trial in Nevada will be handled better and a number of the Bundy Bunch, will be doing hard time at Leavenworth, a lot of it!
Like so many other ethnic quizlings, one can always find an uncle tom-tom. Somehow, I have the feeling you have no more First Nation Ancestry than I do, and it was my great-grandmother who was cheated out of her headright.

I heard that one of the horses was killed by the police with rubber bullets. Was the horse attacking them?

Bundy’s are white and can take over federal land. Native Americans aren’t and they can’t even peacefully rally against this disaster.

I guess we should shut down all the pipelines because the leak and everybody could walk to work and the grocery store.

This weekend I did 32 miles on my bicycle going to garage, yard and estate sales. I spent six dollars on various items.

A few minor points are being overlooked:
The tribe didn’t protest until the pipeline chose not to pay the extortion to use tribal land.
The pipeline is now following the same easement +/- 100 ft as a gas line from 1983. Did they protest the “Sacred sites” at that time?
The water inlet for the reservation is being moved over 50 miles downstream to protect it from any possible oil contamination.
There’s more to this than the obvious story.

Just as we judge a person’s character by the choices they make, so too, is a nation judged.
Are we a leader or do we merely follow the most convenient path with no thought to the outcome?
