Actually, Fontanelle is the PLURAL form. Fontanel is singular. There are several “soft spots” on a newborn baby’s skull to allow it to successfully squeeze its head through the birth canal. The primary (largest) fontanel is the Anterior Fontanel. This is the one that most folks are familiar with.
