I do like referring to a college housemate who played first bass for the University of Iowa Symphony, and my English teacher who had played halfback and Othello for Notre Dame. Also reminded of a PDQ Bach recording in which a Beethoven piece is given a football-style play-by-play. As to opera, just heard a comment on the classical station I’m listening to tht only one profession – I forget which – multitasks more than an opera singer.

I’m in the USofA and I love classical music but I hate the vocal parts, especially opera!
