You buy used, you risk buying all the problems the previous owner had. If you’ve got a good mechanic, though, it’s still a viable option.

You buy new – you risk buying all the problems with experimental technology the manufacturers haven’t discovered occur from daily use. Even a good mechanic can’t miraculously heal a lemon.

I have never owned a new car. Now I can’t afford it or am healthy enough so either get rides or take the bus.

Bought a used Porsche Cayenne 6 years ago, made of galvanized steel(won’t rust). Found a reasonable Porsche repair place. Have not had many problems. Plan to keep it the rest of my driving career ( maybe 20 more years). Don’t go to the dealership for repair on a vehicle like this. I do my own oil change, and you need to have service light turned off every 3000 miles. Dealer charges over $70 to plug car in and do it. My repair shop does it for free.
