I never, ever use the self check out. If the store can’t be bothered to take my money, I’ll go elsewhere.

Just remember that someone lost a job when it was installed. The company didn’t lower prices, they just pocketed more. Screw the self checkout. I won’t use them.

I’ve noticed a trend at my local store. Now people who walk by the self checkout to go to a regular line are asked by an employee of they can help them there. Guess that cover ONE extra job for a real person.

Publix grocery employee attempting to herd customers into the self-checkout machine line got me being nice and then proceeded to scan and pack my purchases! GO FIGURE!

Seems to me if you have to scan your items, pack your bags, scan coupons, and process the payment, you really should be getting an employee discount on your purchases.

The ones used by my local Safeway have British accent. they sound like Lady Mary Crawley from Downton Abbey. Turns out they are 20 year old machines that Tesco used in the UK.

At the bare minimum we should be given a discount for using them. Maybe ½ the wages they would pay an entry level checker. I have written to management and they have done nothing. Not even the disrespect of a form letter.
