I suspect the reaction to the Trump visit to Mexico today will be like the experience Nixon had when he went to Venezuela in the fifties. Venezuelans were not too happy with Nixon at that time and let that be known. Since it is not the fifties, I guess they will keep all protesters far away from Trump, however, even the president of Mexico is very unhappy with him, so may be different. In any case, I am sure Trump will have his own spin on it.
Third verse of the National Anthem. Does this maybe explain why Mr. Kaepernick didn’t stand up for it?[]And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusionA home and a Country should leave us no more?Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slaveFrom the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth waveO’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
It is nice to see someone with something to lose stand up (or in this case sit down) for something he believes in, even though he had to know his opinion would be unpopular.
Racial injustice is everywhere. Kaepernick’s gesture obviously won’t stop the problem, but I laud him for increasing the dialog.
