One of my most favorite bosses once told me, “If you want to use all of your vacation at once that’s your business. If we didn’t want you to have them we wouldn’t have given them to you; so use them any way you see fit.”
This came at the heels of my supervisor getting mad at me for using them in one big chunk instead of spreading them out throughout the year. I walked out of that meeting grinning from ear to ear.
It is stupid. Modern workplaces are so messed up. However, I’m glad Betty and Co. are still considering their holiday. Sometimes, you just have to go for it, and face the consequences as they come …

How STUPID is it, that in the United States, even IF you have accumulated 30 days vacation, if you take those days, you worry about being fired?
