Another lovely ironic twist! All this time, LD and Tortie have been traveling about in a wildlife preserve. Gorgeous scenery, lots of different kinds of animals and habitats. Another edition for my refrigerator!

Hey, gang, don’t we have one more week to see how this continues to unfold?

Steve Boreman still hasn’t revealed LDL name, I do hope we aren’t all kept pondering about that.

How many of you actually know the name of the crow that hangs around with that wicked vulture with his grim sense of humour.?

When our beloved LDL finally ends this month I sincerely hope that Steve Boreman has the complete series published in print or at least ebook format. I know for sure I ’ll be first in line for a copy of LDL adventures.

Fantastic, original, form-challenging, intellect-engaging, ponderously and wonderful strip. Congratulations to all who had a hand in publishing it over the years. On more than one occasion I paused over some image or notion presented in LDL. It often gave me something to think about. Isn’t life wonderful that way!

It’s been a great strip. Is the name Saint Eligius a reference to St. Elsewhere and the rather unusual ending of that series?

Oh, you stole my thunder, scottie4851! Yes, Eligius is the patron saint of vets AND yes, rsketch, it IS a wink to the finale of St. Elsewhere. You guys are all so sharp!

I wish I had one more week to share with you, but I think it’s fitting to leave it here and let the Dog and Tortoise decide where they want to be tomorrow. A decision I’ll let you all make with them.

Your comments are so appreciated and inspiring. I guess I should get to work on a Little Dog compilation! I don’t know what plans GoComics has for reruns, but I do hope to see you all again at some point in the future. (Like maybe a quick post to Facebook at Halloween?)

    Please stay in touch

What a charming finish! I, too, am sad to see the strip ending, but I feel happy and warm that Little Dog is home, tail a’wagging (as always).

LDL has been one of my daily pleasures for years I always saw him as a basset hound, but I usually see references to beagles in the comments. The long ears and big paws and nose and high forehead. No matter, I loved him.

Steve – Thank you for bringing your delightful creation to us for all these years. I look forward to seeing what you do in the future.

Here I am, 73 years old, and blubbering like a baby once I realized Little Dog finally found his home again. Thanks for including Vernon in his newly found home life. Maybe somewhere down the road LD and Vernon will be like Willie Nelson’s song “On the Road Again!” Good luck to all the characters I have enjoyed so much over the years.

Well, it is Monday morning and something is missing from my morning routine before I head off to work. My daily road trip with LD, Tortie and “friends”. I miss, and will continue to miss, this wonderful strip. It was part comic, part parable. Like life, it was frequently heartwarming, sometimes disturbing, a little scary and, ultimately, very satisfying. I learned a lot reading LDL.

During LD’s journey, I sometimes commented that I wished LD would find his home. Today, I am feeling the sting of the old expression, “Be careful what you wish for, it may come true”. Now, I hope to re-read the entire odessey, continue to get my LD fix, and let my own imagination fill-in the gaps. For example, now is probably an appropriate time to announce to the world that LD is sitting here with me on the couch in my den and Tortie is grumbling about — oh, something.

Thank you, Steve! Godspeed to you and your family. I hope there will be a compilation published, book tour, book signing, etc.,. By the way, I’ve named my dog, LD, ". . . . . .

    Best always,Karen

Many, many thanks to Steve Boreman for such a heartwarming delightful comic strip, I’m was so looking forward to another final week of LDL but it’s quite well done an unique final revelation to see our LDL wasn’t lost after all, just enjoying a very long adventure to satisfy his wanderlust and curiosity, and even though we still don’t his name, I and many others here will always think of him in our hearts as Little Dog Loved.

Now there is only one thing left to do and that is for everyone here to start typing out emails to gocomics.com and request, no insist that they immediately rerun LDL from the very first strip.

He doesn’t owe us anything, he is putting his FAMILY FIRST! Good for him! I will miss this strip as well, but here is what he posted on July 11

sboreman said, 17 days agoThe Dog is having those same feelings of deja vu you’re describing, Dry and Dusty. And as many of you have suspected, yes he IS getting closer to home. After 10 years on the road, it would only seem fair to let the Dog finally arrive.

Like him, I’ve had a few big changes of my own over the last 3,395 strips – including the birth of three wonderful kids (a new one just last month, in fact! Hence my recent hiatus). I have decided it’s time to retire Little Dog Lost, at the end of this month.

I can’t adequately express my thanks to you all for following the adventures of Dog and Turtle (Tortoise!), Vulture and Crow. Your readership and your comments brought a smile to my face every single day as I hope I’ve been able to bring to yours.

I hope you’ll stop by the Little Dog Facebook page from time to time, as I have an inkling he may get loose every now and then. Your friendship has made this little dog feel at home, even from way across the other side of the highway.

Thank you! Please stay in touch
