I remember when Hoogie came into the story. Her father was sort of a neer-do-well. He dumped her on Clovia and Slim. But they got to love her and wanted to keep her. Then her father came back with a wife. She was a nurse, an older, unattractive woman. She had inherited money, I think. But she turned out to be a good stepmom to Hoogie. It was a delightful storyline.
