I have allergies to cat fur, but it is not as severe as sit is in others. My first doctor in Charleston did his poking, asked if I had kitties and I said yes. Instead of saying ‘get rid of ’em ’ he said ’let’s get you something so you can pet your kitties’. That is when the magic of Zertec was discovered.
It just always irritate me that the first words out of a doctor’s mouth when you sneeze is ‘get rid of the cat’. I would not have and my mother didn’t, either.
While it is true cats can be exasperating, I think the doctor probably said they were exacerbating his asthma. I’m with him, I’d keep the cats, asthma or no. (And I do have asthma, but my kitties and dog don’t bother my asthma, in spite of the allergist’s assertions that ‘pets are the source of allergie.’ Hah! I’ve been tested multiple times and have zero reaction to pet dander. Pollen, though, seems to be my main nemesis. The plants stay outside and I stay inside. It may hitch a ride in on the cats and dog, but I’m keeping them and taking allergy meds. The allergist can just go soak his head. :)
