It would not surprise me to learn that IS is behind the Islamophobia that drives the isolated Muslims to become lone wolf jihadists. IS is a terrorist group and having us seen as anti-Islam suits their recruitment purposes very well.
It was disgusting to listen to the newscasts (which is why I kept turning them off as they cropped up) mining this terrible story for all the emotion and none of the information. Also, not one of them that I heard mentioned the fact that the shooter had beaten his wife regularly; that she AND a friend of his have said for a while that he is unstable; nor the fact that he was working for one of the world’s largest security firms as an armed gateman for a gated community. Their vetting process was so thorough that none of the complaints against his violent behavior nor his arrests either crossed their radar or, if they did, made a difference to them. But it’s just too juicy to claim homophobia or jihad than that this guy is just an all-purpose hater looking to a hate group to legitimize his taking out his own self-loathing on anyone and everyone.
Trump just gave a speech that was everything ISIS was hoping and praying for. It’s no wonder that the world fears a Trump presidency, but jihadists and tin-pot dictators welcome it. A victory for ignorance, bigotry, and hatred is a victory for them.
