“Obama’s failed stimulus program cost more than the Iraq war.”
Failed? Then why do so many Republicans tout the success of it? http://thinkprogress.org/2010/02/17/stimulus-hypocrisy-101/ (find a different link if you want, but there are NUMEROUS examples of them saying it saved and created jobs, allowed projects to move forward, and provided tax cuts).
What benefit has the Iraq war had on the U.S. Economy, and why’re you missing a war?
Failed Obama stimulus program?? Is that wishful thinking Gore Bane? If so, why? I heard tonight that the CBO estimates job creation at two million jobs.
Minimizing the cost of the Iraq war is a mugs game. I haven’t fact-checked a war cost of $709 billion. If true, that’s probably the immediate cost of bullets and bombs. What about: 1. Veterans pensions and on-going medical costs for disabled veterans; 2. Loss of labor productivity of those disabled veterans; 3. Cost of winding down the war and bringing home the hardware; 4. Lower productivity from returning veterans as a result of PTSD, pysychological adjustment problems, and obsolete work skills; 5. Opportunity cost of not having those billions of dollars circulating and multiplying at home; 6. Loss of labor productivity from not having that youthful energy working at home for the benefit of Americans; etc., etc..
Typical revisionist history like that practiced by the Natzies. I know political cartoons have a component of tongue in cheek disrespect but this is just plain ignorant. Who knew we ever have a red neck named Rameriz?
Created jobs, saved jobs, saved the economy. What BS.
Obama’s trillions indeed did create/save some jobs. He guaranteed if Congress passed his stimulus unemployment would stay below 8%. It is now officially 9.5% but in reality over 17%.
But what all you ignore is what jobs has he created. Private employment has plummeted but government jobs have dramatically risen. And they pay more than private and have guaranteed inflation protected pensions. Those jobs will destroy the US economy. Remember the only source of money to pay for government jobs are taxes imposed on the actual productive members of society.

Funny, the guy on the right doesn’t look like a Bush or Reagan at all.

The one on the right looks like Alfred E. Newman. You know…a trillion here, a trillion there. What, me worry?

We’re missing a significant piece of this puzzle.
The FUNNY part? Taxes AND Prosperity were higher under Clinton.

Ergo, the higher the taxes the higher the prosperity!

“Iraq War spending was not even one quarter of what we spent on Medicare in the same time frame.”
Thank you for providing yet more reasons why healthcare reform is necessary.Gypsy8 over 13 years ago

“Failed” stimulus program?
CBO estimates 3.3M jobs created or saved and unemployment 1.8% less than it would have been.
Regardless of how “economical” that Iraq war was (and is), it was totally unnecessary.
