I love Garfield strips like this with that night time scenery to them :D

I don’t e’en wanna know what Jon did to get a swarm of fireflies to attack or follow him (nice quality bonding Garfield is having with his veterinarian Liz).

Woah man. What did Jon do now? Getting fireflies mad is quite hard.

This is why polka music is terrible. I’m assuming that polka music is how you can get fireflies mad.

“73” is Morse code shorthand for “best regards”. Ham radio people use it verbally when speaking instead of using Morse. Also, “88” means love and kisses".

I’m not gonna ask how Jon managed to get fireflies to attack him.

I took it as “73” the old time Morse code telegraphers shorthand for “Best Regards”. I learned that about the time I got my ham radio license some 65 years ago. And, “88” means “Love and Kisses”.

I love Garfield’s wistful look in panel 4.

Another ham radio operator here. I also took it as best regards. Why? Because knowing how many lightning bugs there were makes no sense.

The last time I tried collecting them I tripped the neighbour’s motion lights and the neighbourhood got to see me running around chasing bugs.The lights made it hard to see the bugs but real easy to see a middle-aged man being silly.

What the heck did Jon do to get those fireflies mad…?

I’ve apologized to my kids for raising them where they don’t get to see fireflies like I did. They should be part of every childhood.

First the ants, now fireflies…nature really has it in for Jon!

How Jon got a swarm of FIREFLIES mad at him? I wouldn’t have a clue and I don’t even want to know!

Aw! I love it when Liz talks to Garfield outside and shares her childhood stories to him. It makes me cry happily. #goodwoman :)
