The decline in coal mining is not due to regulations; it is due to decline in demand. You know, that capitalist principle? As supporter of free markets, I thought you would understand that. Coal mining is being hurt in other parts of the world for the same reason. Show some faith in your fellow West Virgians and see if they can move beyond a segment economy.
Massey Energy, among others cared so much for miners they killed ‘em and switched to mountain top removal to destroy their jobs, rivers, mountains, even the town’s they lived in.
