Barack Obama and Shinzo Abe happen upon a minefield outside Hiroshima. Options are "Open Old Wounds," "Not Enough Remorse," "Apology," "Ignore Old Wounds," "Too Much Remorse," and "Blame."
What was done was done to end the worst War the World had known up to that time! Right, wrong, or indifferent it ended the War; let the philosophers argue morality, they weren’t the people given the responsibility to end that War!
Over 50 million died, as a result of empire building by the “axis powers”, trying to replace the old empires. Maybe we need to consider our “defense” spending and the MIC Ike warned us about, and consider that OUR waging more peace, and less war, might be a saner option? Our own empire project is very, very, expensive, in currency, and lives.
Apologizing to the Japanese will be an insult to the millions who were murdered by their hands, to thousands of women raped, to the millions displaced and left homeless, all in their insane empire building. When Japan apologize to the rest of Asia, then the US should consider an apology.

non-issue that COULD NOT affect the life of a single American in any way went to waste.
People are so ready to be insulted. It can seem like they really want to get into a snit.I’m not naming any names, like the democrats or republicans. If we were ever taught to let go of the little stuff, it’s been forgotten. It would be Amazing to just let things go just a bit of the time.
If not for Japan, China, and Germany, where would we get most of our vehicles and devices that make life so “American”? Our intelligence in helping rebuild Germany and Japan, and our deals with China, have after all made them what they are.

Agree with you. 1941gko. The PM has every right to bring up current issues…like military personnel transgressions. But the past is that…past.
