Actually, they haven’t made tin foil in decades. It’s heavier than aluminum, and gives a flavor to things you wrap it in. Aluminum took over in the mid 20th century for food wrap.
Aluminum also doesn’t block FEMA’s broadcasts straight into your brain as well as tin does, so tin foil can be hard to find.
Looks to be a local issue. Seems they have to trade land with the church in order for things to go smoothly since the port authority has different plans with regard to where the church once stood. Its a real complicated mess.
Bruce – if the information in this link is substantially correct, the two situations don’t seem to have much in common. Though this one does suggest that there’s no objection in principle to having a house of worship in the area, so long as the zoning is okay.
Actually ‘tin foil’ was never tin. It was Aluminum from the very start. The misnomer came from tin cans.
And I think that anyone who raises cain about there being a mosque built near ground zero should realize it wasn’t only Christians killed in the towers. There were Christians, Moslems, Jews, Atheists, and Agnostics killed. That tragedy claimed a cross-section of the NY population so they should all have shrines or houses of worship built in order to honor their passing. But that’s just me.
There’s a strip club a block from the proposed site, and guys with sandwich boards walk by that site soliciting “customers” so they don’t need a “Hooters”. The 21 story building across the street will block any view of “ground zero”. Zoning is zoning, the Constitution is the Constitution, tin hats need a lead lining to block the radioactive vehemence of whacko opponents, who’ve never read the Constitution, or “Common Sense”.

Meh. Politicians have found many occasion where the Constitution didn’t apply. It’s usually when whatever they’re supporting is in direct violation. They also seem to love “finding” violations in whatever they oppose.
Aluminum won’t work, it’s conductive. A gold or silver crown would conduct even more signals. They should use a non-conductive material, such as wood. Blockheads.

If I may add my two cents…
If you look at car bomb attacks and stuff in Iraq and Afghanistan, the bulk or muslim extremist victims are…other muslims.

And how many “Christians” have died at the hands of “their own”- think the Reformation, Scotland/Britain, Northern Ireland, our own “Civil” war, etc.
