I have a combination dial lock that I used for middle school phys. ed. and for high school wood shop and I still know its combination. As for its memorization technique, haven’t thought about it.

Prefer key locks but then have to remember which key goes to which lock, always something.

Had a few locks with four tumblers when you had it open you could insert a key and reset the combo. Eventually I would reset and forget the new combo. No problem only 10,000 possible combos. Kept me out of mischif.
