    Her answer is off by 1, because there was no year zero. For example, 1 AD is one year after 1 BC, not two years after.Or in modern notation, 1 CE and 1 BCE.

    I notice she gave instructions to “add” rather than to “subtract a negative number”. Many of my college calculus students cannot solve a word problem, “Something happened 4568 years ago. What was the date of that something?” (not even worrying about year zero here, within ten years would be fine).
