Not to everybody’s taste, and they are written too long; should be edited down by at least a third. They are uneven and always seem centered around a core of quite good writing. But they tell imaginative and stories..If you should weaken in response to my description, try THE WITCHING HOUR, QUEEN OF THE DAMNED, THE MUMMY, or SERVANT OF THE BONES. ,Not exactly Great Literature, but what Graham Greene might call “entertainments.” Really looooong entertainments.
