I’ve usually either picked her up and put her on my lap, and let her get down when she wants, or used the water bottle, whichever was most handy. But she doesn’t get the message to stay out of my chair! Why would a cat choose a chair that’s less comfortable than the bed right beside it?
It’s not necessarily the comfort of the chair, it’s the scent of the person the cats are after. My cats love the bed, but they absolutely go bananas when I put down a dress or shirt that has my scent. They pad right over, scrunch it up, pat it down, and settle in. . .

Pick him up and give him a hug. He’ll run away real fast. The only downside is that he may scratch a hole in your shirt in the process.
