I bought my first tennis shoes two pair for $9. But that was long enough ago that I bought 1 pair that fit and the other a half size larger. Last time I priced the same shoes they were $110 a pair. You can get a pair of Converse for around $60.
I got my first pair of Converse All-Stars in high school in the 1940’s. Salesman came to school and measured everyone who wanted shoes. Shipment showed up at school about a week later. Cost about $5.00 a pair.
