Lots of conversations in my city go like this. Many people don’t seem to know that “conversation” does not mean “waiting for you to shut up so I can talk again”—and most don’t wait.
When we open our gifts, the girls take turns opening their gifts so that everyone can enjoy seeing what everyone got (and we can remember who gave what). However, when we go to my family’s Christmas gathering with my brother’s grandchildren, it’s a free-for-all. I tried to suggest our way…but no way.
