Americans are obsessive about bathrooms and bodily functions. I remember going to a castle in Edinburgh Scotland. There was a big sign at the entrance saying TOILET with an arrow. I laffed because in America people would be picketing the sign as Americans denied that toilets existed. You couldn’t even show one on the TV for years though everyone had seen one!

The president has championed these weirdo laws.

You live up to your handle again. Yes shared restrooms are relatively common in the rest of the world and guess what, they don’t cause problems, It is narrow minded people who insist on forcing their will on others that cause all of the problems in this world.

He did change it for the better. In the Bush years that woman would have had to gone into the men’s room, and probably be assaulted by the narrow-minded pants checkers.

Not only have I seen communal restrooms in many other countries, I’ve seen it practiced here for practical reasons: At concerts, women commonly use the men’s room, as theirs is always packed (I’ve heard it’s the same at sporting events) without shame or fear. And I’ve been in many a restroom that a man has brought his daughter into, and seen women take their sons into the ladies room with them. I’ve also seen unaccompanied boys in the men’s. Lets not lie to ourselves that transgender folk picking their room decreases safety issues one iota. This is about the folks in Raleigh expressing their moral outrage and using such to garner brownie points with the fearful and bigoted across NC. Just one more act of eroding what makes my beloved state such a wonderful place to live. It’s going to take a lot of work and time to fix the McCrory crew’s damage.

Oh, and this has nothing to do with Obama. Mr. Lester is just trying for a two-for-one smear.

The real problem is all the anal retentive personalities involved in these laws, and attitudes. BTW; the separation of men’s and women’s “facilities” is really a pretty new thing. Well, there was the decision on which bush around the covered wagons was for the women and kids, the other for the guys. Modesty is not the same thing as paranoia…

I am not an Obama sycophant, I am just not a bigot. Obama’s presidency was not an error, the majority of Americans voted for him twice. I am sure you are excited about getting a job as a pants-checker to make sure everyone has the right parts.

This is the same legislature that voted to limit sea level rise.

Women have been taking their young sons into women’s restrooms and changing rooms for YEARS. Before family restrooms, I often wondered what men did with their young daughters. I wouldn’t want to have to explain urinals.

Nance: took her into the stall with me. She turned out fine. The other part is that we went to cost saving “unisex” restrooms with locking doors, and those also were used for ‘family" restrooms. The biggest gaggle is that some transgender person is going to attack, which is the LEAST likely thing to ever occur. Pedophiles prey on their own sex, as well as kids of the opposite sex. Bathrooms aren’t the problem.
