Is the pee stained floor in the restroom a nice touch? …no difference to the pee on the ground outside.

The “Colored” & “White” signs in the bin are. A nice touch I mean. Trans is the new Colored and Cis the new White.

How do they plan to enforce this law, with a policeman and a DNA kit in every bathroom?

The stalls will be policed by politicians with “Wide Stances!”.

Great opportunity for a startup making toilet cams. Just think of the money they can make selling them to NC.

My guess is when one guy beats up a trans person, he will have a defense that allows an acquittal from any charges.

From Urban Dictionary: Cis = Short for “cisgender” (opposite of “transgender”), used to describe someone whose gender identity matches their anatomical gender at birth.

You people are demonstrating not just how old you are, but how ignorant you are by commenting on therms in use for years – and you crucify TED RALL as if he invented them?

He’s using terms that are common knowledge to those under 75 yrs old – that THIS crowd @ GoComics, in your 4 hour sleep worlds, commenting on EVERY SINGLE COMIC ON THIS SITE, somehow have missed.

—> My intent here is to first come to the defense of Ted Rall – whether I agree with the comic or not.

All too often, you people seem to forget his comics REFLECT reality, Ted doesn’t try to create reality. That you don’t “Get That” – day after day after day, is truly sad.

IN THIS INSTANCE – I THINK THE “LAW” AS N.C. INTENDED IS A BETTER SOLUTION THAN IT SEEMS, WHEN YOU CONSIDER PUBLIC BATHROOMS WHERE CHILDREN ARE COMMON – which I cover below.

Having lived in NC / SC / & GA for a horrible total of 20 years, post-degree, from the Chicago metro, I don’t have anecdotes or opinions to pass on with a single positive word about Life in the Ignorant South, and their political and religious hypocrisy, unless it is about the weather.

Now in New England, near the #2 city for single household lesbians, (a city near the Univ of Mass/Amherst) you don’t see any efforts to bend common sense law in the other direction. What you see is often two bathrooms, for use by either sex, one at a time… OR as in the case of Target, a third bathroom for either sex (as many places do when they only have ONE bathroom) either of which can ultimately be the answer, when common sense doesn’t lead the way.

As for CIS & TED — It need not be even defined, as a few of you took the time to read in chemo-bological terms, but simply, that Cis is, in those examples, an opposite of Trans.

Whatever the attempt of the law – there will be more men (who like to call themselves “transgender" instead of transvestites – consider Bruce Jenner momentarily) who will still OWN THE EQUIPMENT, and still refers to themselves as Hetero (relative to their birth certificates – meaning he still likes women) – ¿¿ so WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD A GUY IN A DRESS, WHO LIKES WOMEN, BE WELCOME IN THE WOMEN’S BATHROOM??

If you’re keeping the equipment – then no matter how you PREFER to be considered… when in a crowd of 10 in a locker room, no matter how intent you are on “being on the other side” – TRANS, possessing the wrong equipment, if functional even after hormones, WITHOUT surgery, you ARE NOT welcome! Does not seem to be difficult to figure out!

I’m less concerned with seeing an obvious “Jenner” type in the guys bathroom (because of their stance!) than I am about seeing Chaz Bono in the guy’s bathroom (and that isn’t even a big deal, for even that once beautiful girl, now a bearded brute, still will likely use a stall.

THAT is not a big deal, compared to a GUY in the women’s bathroom. Especially where girls 14 & under must tolerate the invasion of a guy with the equipment – hormones or not, making them uncomfortable – unless we turn all bathrooms into Unisex bathrooms.

btw – I see the term Cis primarily used in the context of “Cis-Hetero” – thus denoting “not bisexual” and “not homosexual” – even “experimentally” - for airport & truck-stop visits like certain senators and preachers are often discovered & OF COURSE, “misunderstood.”

But that’s only if they talk with their mouth full.

There are workable alternatives. They’re called solar power and wind power. Oil should go where the horse and buggy have gone.

I finally figured it out. North Carolina will add to their highway patrol by establishing a Wee-Wee/Hoo-Hoo Division. Their motto will be, “You can pee after we see.”

Hmm, years of experience having to clean restrooms, the women’s were always dirtier than the men’s, and “Unisex” rooms with locks, were always the cleanest, because both sexes did’t want to be blamed, so maybe letting “Trans” folks go either way, would clean up both men’s AND women’s??

“…for some things, like airplanes, we may never replace them”

Maybe sooner than you’d think – electric aircraft are currently under development, with one or two flying now. At least one of them is an assisted glider, but the training market is also being targeted, with quick change battery packs. And there is also an electric rocket.

OK, the rocket isn’t exactly electrically propelled – it uses electric motors to pump the fuel.

" There are approximately 38,000 passenger aircraft in the world today, and that number is expected to double in just 20 years.“

Can you provide sources for those numbers? Especially the 20 year doubling – thanks.

”I think jet fuel will be around for a long time.

No doubt about that – after all, aircraft have very long lifespans. And on the reciprocating market, diesel seems to be making faster progress (especially in small planes) than electric.

Life would be a lot simpler if things could always be stuffed into neat, tidy little boxes. Males over here, females over there, it’s all settled. But that’s just not the way life works.
