But are they all organized and in a reasonable order? And are the subjects all identified? I scanned a bunch of mine too, but can’t say yes to those to questions (yet). :-)
bluffwoodEquipment to view them will become impossible to find, long before “hardcopies” fade. I have several book manuscripts in PageMaker 5 that I can’t get into current computers to work on. I had a long search for a 78 rpm turntable; reaction was though I had asked to buy a cylinder player. At least I found the 78.
My father put all or old pictures into photo albums and wrote annotations under each one. Then the glue on the photo corners dried out. Now I have albums full of annotations and boxes of loose, unlabeled photos!

Never understood why people would just dump photos in a box. Way back when we had photos developed, we would get a roll of 35 or so at once. My mom would put them in a certain place in the house until we had all had a chance to see them, then she would put them in an album, often with notations on the back. It’s a lot easier to do that one roll at a time instead of trying to organize years’ worth.

That’s going to be quite a task, John.

Is there no way to edit a comment once you hit submit? It should be two questions in the last line.

I scanned them in. It has been an ongoing process for the last 2 years. Some to do in odd moments.

I’ve just moved, and have found photos I’ve inherited from my grandmother that go back more than 100 years.

I sorted them all by decade, and then made scrapbooks when that was the big thing. I think nobody does that anymore.

Today you sort through your photo CD’s or DVDs. Be sure to have backups, as photograph prints last longer than optical discs.
